Song: O~~~ Kaali Ghata Ghir Aayi Re O~~
Madhur Milan Hai Sajanaa O~~ Madhur Milan Hai
Dere-Na, Dere-Na Dere-Dere-Na (2), O~~
Film: Kali Ghata (1951)
Music: Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics: Hasarat Jaipuri
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi
*ing: Bina Roy, Kedar Sharma, Kishor Shahu
Among many Shankar Jaikishan gems is found this one. I would say
this song is at par with the Daaman (1953) song of Rafi-Lata
composed by Datta Koregaonkar, in terms of melody and touch. This
song definitely creates the environment of monsoon time. Very
good composition indeed. Other than this song there are many
good Lata solos. Some of my favourites are:
La Ela, Ile Bel; La Ela Bel Are, Din Hain Pyaare Pyare
Maushu Tu Main Teri, Tu Mera Main Teri,
Aise Me Tu Aja Re, Aise Me Tu Aja Re
a great song. Support of violin is extraordinary. And the song
that I like the most 'Hamse Na Puchho~~~, Ham Se Na Puchho Koi
Pyar Kya Hai, Pyar Kya Hai; Puchho Bahar Se, Puchho Bahar Se'.
There exist another Jaikishan classic in a film too:
'Unke Sitam Ne Lunt Liya, Hae Kya Karen
Aaina Dil Ka Tut Gaya, Hae Kya Karen'
Other songs I know from the film are typical Shankar Jaikishan
ones. Both are by Lata. 'Dil Me Tu Mere Dil Me Tu, Sapanon Ki
Mehfil Me Tu, Dil Me Tu...' and "Maine Kiya Kya Sitam' a typical
Jaikishan tune. Except one song, 'Ile Bel Are', which is by
Shailndra, all other songs are by Hasrat Jaipuri.
