Song: Dekho ji bahaar aayi
Baagon mein khili kaliyaan
Aana hai to aa jaao
Sooni hain meri galiyaan
Film: Azaad (1955)
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
Music: C Ramchandra
Lyrics: Rajendra Krishan
*ing: Dilip Kumar, Meena Kumari
No sign of tragedy in this movie, I can assure you. The movie is
filled with sprightly, cheerful melodies like this gem, all (or
most) of them by Lata Mangeshkar - probably the most popular
being 'Radha na boley'.
This song is cute. As much as I try to avoid using that
adjective, I can't come up with a better one- everything about it
is cute- the playfully sweet tune, the words, the situation in
the movie... heck, even the way she dances as she sings the song
is cute. Pretty much the same goes for all the Lata solos in the
movie. And of course, who can forget the lovely (and immensely
popular) Lata-Chitalkar duet 'Kitna haseen hai mausam' ?
A singularly delectable movie, this- I saw it over 6 years ago,
but still remember it in bits and pieces. And the soundtrack is a
worthy addition to any old Hindi music collection, if nothing
else, for sake of completeness- this is one of those soundtracks
where *every* song is good, some more than others.
