Song: Ghir ghir ke aasmaan par
Chhaane lagi ghataayen
Keh do koi piya se
Pardeswa na jaayen
Film: Bawre Nain (1950)
Music: Roshan
Lyrics: Kidar Sharma
Singer: Rajkumari
*ing: Raj Kapoor, Geeta Bali
For some reason, I woke up humming this song today, and haven't
been able to get it out of my mind. So I figured I'd go ahead and
post it on ATMJH.
I just adore this tune. It starts with some lovely flute strains,
which are more or less interspersed though the song- and one of
the strange things in this song is that in some parts of it,
especially the main mukhda, it seems like two Rajkumaris are
singing in tandem (though the credits list it as a solo). If
anyone has seen the movie, can they throw some light on this
queer phenomenon ? How exactly is the song picturized ?
Anyway, this is a truly beautiful melody- not just Roshan's
peerless music, but Kidar Sharma's endearingly penned poetry. The
song is a winner - undoubtedly one of Rajkumari's very best !
