Song: Yeh Kaun Aaya Re
Kar Ke Yeh Sola Singaar
Kaun Aaya
Film: Ziddi (1948)
Music: Khemchand Prakash
Lyrics: Prem Dhawan
Singers: Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar
*ing: Ashok Kumar (?), ?
Legend has it- KK came to Bombay around 1946/47 with one main
intention (and entering movies was NOT it) - to meet his two
musical idols - K.L.Saigal and Khemchand Prakash. He never met
Saigal, but he DID sing this for Khemchand Prakash.
A number of things, I feel, make this song a gem - its lilting
melody, the fact that Lata, aged all of 19 years, is at her
sweetest best, a very early and fresh Kishore giving his best
imitation of Saigal, etc. Apart from all that, its probably one
of the earliest Kishore-Lata duets, making it some sort of a
collectors' item.
Ziddi has a number of beautiful Lata solos too, topped of course
by the famous 'Chanda Re Jaa Re Jaa Re'.
