This song is being presented as a  'shradh-dhA.njali'  to  Hemant
Mukhopadhyay.

I love this masterpiece. Not because of Lata's lucid singing  but
more  because  of  Naushad's  touch of class in it. Repetition of
certain phrase of antara, a deliberate pause and  mesmeric  sitar
notes  followed  by  little  change tune to come to 'sum' (and to
mukhada) is superb. For example

        Hue Hum Tere   {sitar  notes}  Hue  Hum  Tere  Dil
Lagaane Ke Baad ...

where repeat 'Hue Hum Tere' is sung higher. Magical song indeed.
