Yesterday was 'punyatithi' of this lesser known singer. He had  a
voice  which  was  in between Rafi's and Mukesh's. He was a prime
singer in mid 1940s. One can know this by noticing  that  Motilal
threatened  to  leave  film  to producer of Pehali Nazar(1945) on
issue of singer of 'Dil Jalta Hai  To  Jalne  De';  for  producer
wanted  a  "big"  singer  -- G M Durrani whereas Motilal and Anil
Biswas were proposing a new singer, Mukesh!

This gazal is sung beautifully; expressing deep sorrow, lyrics is
trying  to  convey.  Gazal  is  set  to such a good tune, that it
leaves you humming it immediately afterwards.

Before I complete this post, I beg your pardon for  being  unable
provide  you with correct information on lyricist, music director
and year of release. This has happened first time and I  hope  it
won't repeat.
