In previous post, I wrote that 27th August is death anniversary
of Jan Nissar Akhtar. Please excuse me for little lapse there.
Actually his anniversary is today -- 28th August.
Yesterday, 27th August was death anniversary of Mukesh. Since I
wanted to first write about Jaan Nissar (thinking his anniversary
is also on 27th) I didn't talk about Mukesh in other post.
Today's post is dedicated to this great singer.

Song: Ansoo Bhari Hain, Ye Jeevan Ki Raahen
Koi Un Se Kehde Hume Bhul Jaayen
Film: Parvarish (1958)
Music: Dattaram
Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri
Singer: Late Mukesh
*ing: Raj Kapoor, Padmini?
As the tale goes, Dattaram had to compose this song totally
unprepared; he didn't have his orchestra ready. He could find a
saarangi player, a tabla player and a sitar player and off he
went. That way it was a true test of Mukesh' ability too. Without
orchestration, he could be easily caught singing off-notation.
But not only he sung well, he actually pulled entire song off on
his shoulder and made it an all time great!
I must also add, that Pt. Ram Narayan has done a good job on
saarangi, especially opening solo is quite good. It's actually
sitar that's used as filler in between stanzas (as breif
interlude). Those sitar notes are also nice.
