Song: Us Chaa~~nd Se~~~~, Us Chaand Se Pyaare Chaand Ho
Tum
Akaash Me Muskaata? Hai ....
Film: Raat Ki Rani (1949)
Music: Hansraj Behl
Lyrics: Darbaari Lal 'Shamim'
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi
*ing: ?
This duet is sung little high at slow pace and is extremely
melodious. It belongs to a class of Rafi-Lata duets, on which I
can go on writing. Such pearls by these two combines came in, a
plenty of times between 1949 and 1955 with output gradually but
steadily declining. In 1949-50 we saw Andaz, Ek Thi Ladki, Biraha
Ki Raat, Baazar, Jaltarang, Bequsoor, Sagai, Ambar, Paaras, Adhi
Raat, etc. etc. where we have songs carrying highest order of
melody taking listener to musical heaven.
Above song sits on second bench in popularity, to this Rafi
classic and popular
Jin Raaton Ko Neend Ud Jaati Hai, Wo Sahar Ki Raaten Hoti
Hain
Diwaaron Se Takaraa Jaate Hain, ?????? ?????? Baate Hoti
Hain
Where did this touch in Rafi's voice go in 1950s and all later
years ? Similar thing happened to almost all singers -- Mukesh,
Lata, Asha, Geeta, Manna De -- and hence I consider a period of
1945-1955 as best in Hindi film music.
Rafi also sung this forgotten but equally well song: Tan Funkataa
Hai [ Sorry, don't remember lyrics now. It's ages since I heard
it last. This one, previous ATMJH on Shadi Ki Raat and many
others seem to have been resting on HMV/AIR/SLBC's recks for
years now, gathering dust :( ]
Finally the song that I like much and I managed a copy from one
old gentleman in Vadodara. The only Lata solo in this film. A
good mellow number
Dil Todane Waale Aa, Mukh Modane Waale Aa
All these song has scales going up and down in breathtaking way
carrying stamp of this master composer.
