#176
Song: Sunaaun Kisko Afsaana, Na Apanaa Hai Na Begaana
Likha Hai Meri Qismat Me Jahaan Ji Thokaren
Khaana
Film: Shiri Pharhaad (1956)
Music: S Mohindar
Lyrics: Tanvir Naqvi
Singer: Talat Mehmood
*ing: Pradeep Kumar, Madhubala?
It's just that my current favourite happens to be this song, and
hence been chosen as #176. Tell me which song of this film was
not a gem ? Lata's nostalgic "Guzaraa Hua Zamaana Aata Nahi
Dubaara, Haafiz Khudaa Tumhaara' is still right up in people's -
otherwise volatile - memory. And why not ? It's one of the best
Lata rendition, afterall. She pours her heart out. Talat provides
his answer with his limited range in this song. Looks like a
gazal but it's not. These two songs have very good lyrics. In
fact, this man -- Tanvir Naqvi -- has never disappointed me be it
Anmol Ghadi (1945) or this one or Kaarvaan (1954?) or one movie
that I am missing here where he wrote for C Ramchandra; every
song in them have very nice and simple lyrics. My favourite
stanza in today's ATMJH being
Agar Ye Bhi Nahi To Junoon Ki Imtehaan Kya Hai
Ke Diwaane Bhi Ab Kehane Lage Hai Muzko Diwaana !!
Film has three more songs that I know. One Rafi and Rafi-Asha
tandem. That one is
Hazaaron Rang Badalegaa Zamaana
Na Badalegaa Muhobat Ka Fasaana
The duet version has an ashaar before the mukhada that Rafi sings
Na Taajshahi Na Baadshaahi Rahegi
Lekin Muhobat Baaki Rahegi
The last song, I know here is a Hemant-Lata duet
Aa~~ Aa Jaa, Aa Jaa O Jaanewafa
Na~~ Na Jaa, Na Jaa O Dilrubaa
Nice number. This is great soundtrack by S Mohindar, and may well
be a desert island choice of many.
