Song: Katate Hain Dukh Me Yeh Din Pehalu Badal Badal Ke
Rehaten Hain Dil Hi Dil Me, Armaa Machal Machal
Ke
Film: Parchhain (1952)
Music: Ramchandra Chitalkar
Lyrics: Noor Lukhnavi
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
*ing: Shantaram, Sandhya
An extremely melodious song picturised in unconvincing way! Some
delicate pieces of sitar and sarangi are true golden ornaments of
this song, sung so beautifully by Lata. It's my favourite from
this film.
Lata also starts (!) the film with one decent song
Doob Jaaye Jo Qismat Ka Taara
Phir Hota Nahi Koi Sahaara
My next favourite from the film is this Bageshri based Talat
popular
Muhobat Hi Na Jo Samjhe Wo Zaalim Pyaar Kya Jaane
Nikalti Dil Ke Taaron Se Jo Hai, Zannkaar Kya Jaane
Agains some lovely sitar and saarangi notes greets you on
listening to this immortal number.
Lata sung one more good number that has remained under shadows of
'Katate Hain'
Dard-E-Jigar Mere Dard-E-Jigar
Raat Kaise Kati Kuze Kya Khabar
A typical Ramchandra dhun.
Film has three nice Talat-Lata duets too. Perhaps 'Apni Kaho
Kuchh Meri Suno' was most popular then, but my favourite is 'Kisi
Ne Muzko Mere Ghar Me Aa Ke Lunt Liya' -- an enjoyable playful
song. The last duet, which is perhaps a dream song (I have seldom
understood Shantaram movies :( or :) ? :)), is very good and
different type of song: Dil Dil Se Kah Raha Hai Jo Tu Hai Wohi
Main Hun . If I remember it's two souls/spirits singing in the
film. Anyway it has very effective orchestra support. Song itself
goes slowly and with high bass orchestra - and perhaps chorus as
well -- generates a feeling as if the sound is circulating and
echoing (although not in reality)!
