It's been a long time since this series is on and one after
another, I have been walking past gems, down memory lane. Today
on the occasion of 150th post, I bring this great song, from
Navketan Film's 1952 make Aandhiyan. Although, film didn't do
well, it left behind a great piece of work by legendary sarod
maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Here is that invaluable pearl
#150
Song: Hai Kahin Par Shaadmaani Aur Kahin Nahshaadiyan
Duniya Me Sukh Dukh Ki Aati Hain Sadaa Ye
Aandhiyaan
Film: Aandhiyan (1952)
Music: Ali Akbar
Lyrics: Pt. Narendra Sharma
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
*ing: Dev Anand, Kalpana Kartik
This song was recorded in 3 parts, all are distinct. Second part
is only one antara that starts by itself and you recognise just
by tune and later after the antara when mukhada is sung. Part 1
and 3 starts with this mukhada, but have different stanzas in
them. What is common there is superb Lata singing and excellent
sarod pieces all over, giving evidence of a touch of a guru. HMV
must oblige by releasing part II and I.
There also exists a Hemant-Asha duet too
Woh Chaand Nahi Hai Dil Hai Kisi Diwaane Ka
Akash Se Kehati Hai Duniya, Woh Naam Hai Is
Virane Ka
A good one.
Ali Akbar worked on only two films as music director, AFAIK.
Other one was Hamsafar (1954). But I will leave Hamsafar for
future posts. He also worked with Late Shankar Jaikishan for
Seema(1955) and Patrani(1955).
