I conclude series on Chitragupta with following immortal song,
composed by him
#135
Song: Ada Se Zumate Huve, Dilon Ko Chumate Huve
Ye Kaun, Ye Kaun Muskaraa Diyaa, Ye Kaun Muskaraa
Diyaa
Film: Sindbad, The Sailor (1952)
Music: Chitragupta
Lyrics: Shewan Rizvi?
Singer: Mohammad Rafi, Shamshad Begum
*ing: ?
This song is one of the best Rafi-Shamshad duets, to me. I guess,
it's saxophone , violin and clarinet that plays a vital role in
setting right pace and mood of this song. Very lively number,
that will refuse to relinquish place in your heart once you hear
it. Shamshad Begum, who was still number one for many music
directors -- and that included Chitragupta too; sings in an
enjoyable fashion.
Only other song I know is also a Shamshad duet, this time with
Kishor Kumar. They sing 'Tera Mera, Mera Tera Pyaar Ho, Duniya
Hui Gulzaar' -- a pleasant song. I believe for this type of songs
Shamshad was ideal (besides Geeta Roy) choice.
