Song: Ayega Aane Wala Ayega
Film: Mahal (1949)
Music: Khemchand Prakash
Lyrics: Nakshab Jarachvi
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
*ing: Ashok Kumar, Vijayalakshmi, Madhubala
One more song, which has seen so many Diwalis paasing by and
would surely see many more, even after the current generation
would have gone! The song starts with following mini-song(!).
Khamosh Hain Zamaana, Chupchaap Hain Sitaare
Aise Me Koi Ahat, Is Tareh Aa Rahi Hai
Ke Jaise Ki Chal Raha Ho, Man Me Koi Hamaare
Ya Dil Dhadak, Raha Hai Is Aas Ke Sahaare
Ayega Ayega, Ayega Aane Wala, Ayega Ayega Ayega
All along violin is used with extraordinary effect. Then follows
yet another beautiful piece from violin band. ... And starts the
song.
Lata sung two more songs. 'Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya Bewafaa Laut Bhi
Aa' and "Mushkil Hai Bahot Mushkil, Chaahat Ka Bhula Dena' . Both
are excellent songs in their own way. I find former one more
creative.
But there ends Lata's and hence Madhubala's empire, as far as
Mahal is concerned. Now starts delicate world of Rajkumari songs,
filmed on Kamini. Raj Kumari captures all moods and moments
Kamini passes through in the film (Ashok Kumar's wife in the
film) in a convincing manner. My favourite song of hers is
Ghabra Ke Jo Hum Sar Ko, Takraaen To Achchha Ho
The maturity required for this song could not have come from any
other singer - not even Lata. Although a sad song, it's like
honey to ears. There are two more that I can't recall now.
Finally a mujaraa song from Johara Ambala and Amirbai(?): 'Ye
Raat Fir Na Ayegi, Jawaani Bit Jaayegi'. A very nice song. I like
the tune and rhythm.
