Song: Dil Bhi Tera, Ham Bhi Tere
Ham Ko Pyaa~re Hain Gam Bhi Tere
Aur Bhi Hon Sitam To Kar Le
Ke Ye Sitam Bhi Karam Hain Tere ....
Film: Taksaal (1955)
Music: Roshan
Lyrics: Prem Dhawan
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
*ing: Balraj Sahani, Nirupa Roy
The only song, I remember from the film. But it's masterpiece.
Roshan has used many hindustani instruments: flute (at
abundance), sitar, sarangi. Only at few places we have band of
violins playing a short and sweet interlude during antara
registering presence of a western (if you want to call violin
_only_ western) instrument. I don't know if this was supposed to
be a bhajan. For it appears that way but for one stanza. Lata's
singing is very sweet, refined. She sings high, a rarity for a
Roshan compositions from that era, but does remarkably well. The
melody of this song can be compared to Roshan's contemporary and
a musician whose style was quite close to his, and who got a
better deal (only God knows why?) -- Madan Mohan's 'Tum Jo Saath
Raat Bhi Haseen Hai'; which itself is a great number. For some
reason, though, I give few marks more to this Roshan song.
